June 2022 Canine Companions Schedule

Herd of Turtles (HOTs)

Thursdays, 9 a.m. | June – October

The Turtles hike all year long. Our summer hikes are published in the newsletter June through September. Our hikes are easy, usually 3 to 5 miles on Thursday mornings. Winter, spring and fall we use an email list to send out hikes, directions to trailhead, time and suggested equipment (poles, snowshoes, yaktrax, spikes) depending on the weather and trail conditions. Email information is included in every newsletter. Although our hikes are easy we often have some “Snails” who are a bit slower and don’t want to walk as far. Perfect for newcomers or anyone acclimating! We want everyone to feel comfortable enjoying our beautiful mountains with us.

Trailwork

First Fridays, 9 a.m. – Noon | June – August

Join the seniors and Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) on the first Friday of the month (June through August), 9:00 a.m. to noon, as they do campsite restoration (cleaning and rehab; no heavy lifting). For more information, contact Steve Alberico at stevenpalberico@gmail.com.
