Thursdays | October – April
Our hikes are easy, usually 3 to 5 miles on Thursday mornings. Although our hikes are easy, we often have some “Snails” who are a bit slower and don’t want to walk as far. Perfect for newcomers or anyone acclimating! We want everyone to feel comfortable enjoying our beautiful mountains with us.
Only during the winter, spring and fall months, we use an email list to send out hikes, trailhead directions, time and suggested equipment (boots, poles, snowshoes, yaktrax, spikes) depending on the weather and trail conditions. Our hikes continue to take place on Thursday mornings, but the times may change. Emails are sent a day or two before the hike with location and time. This email list will be used throughout the offseason fall, winter and spring months. To be added to the email list, please send your name and email address to Pat Kopystianskyj (pkopysti@comcast.net)
Tuesdays, 8:30 AM | June – Mid October
Summit Older Bushwhackers (SOBs) do intermediate backcountry trail hikes on Tuesdays, mostly in Summit County. These typically range from 4 – 7 miles and with 400 – 1500 ft of elevation gain. They are led by volunteer trip leaders, usually a different leader each week. We meet from June through mid October, weather permitting. We usually leave the car-pool location at 8:30 and are back between 12 and (rarely) 2 pm. For more information, call Jim Fleshman at 281-507-1059 or email rjftex@gmail.com.
Wednesdays, 9 AM | May – October
Moderate Wednesday hikes at a leisurely pace, with furry friends welcome — Those unfortunate to not be owned by a dog are also welcome. The group meets at 9:00 AM. to carpool or at a trailhead. Bring leashes. For more details, please call Howard Brown at 970-468-2313 or email brown.howard2@gmail.com.
