Seminars on various tech topics take place in a classroom setting and are typically attended by anywhere from six to thirty people depending on the topics presented. Seminar topics are generally relatively basic, covering subjects such as getting organized on your computer; getting the most out of your operating system (lately Windows 10); downloading, organizing and editing your photographs; using the features of your smartphone or tablet; using Facebook and other social media; the basics of word processing and spreadsheets, etc.
We are a volunteer team dedicated to helping Senior Center members with your technology issues and problems. We provide tech help sessions at the Senior Center on the first three Mondays of every month from 4:00 to 5:30 PM.
We also provide occasional monthly seminars on Saturday mornings. Sign up for any of these sessions is through the Front Desk of the Senior Center. When signing up for a Monday afternoon help session, please provide us with details on your needs and let the Front Desk know how to contact you. Bring your devices with you so we can help you work with your own equipment. Space is limited to six attendees (or partner pairs). So, please be sure to sign up by 9:00 a.m. on the Friday before the session.
While the Senior Center remains closed due to COVID-19, the Senior Center Tech Help team will provide remote help to Senior Center members. If you need tech assistance, please submit our Remote Help Form.
Scams are recently on the rise. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), anyone who demands payments by gift card is always a scammer. Gift cards should never be used as payments to someone asking for money. Here is an FTC web link with more information on gift card scams.
Another fraud scheme that’s on the rise is the “imposter” scam. For more information on various imposter scams, please once again visit this web link on the FTC website.
Zoom is a free video conferencing app that allows you to set up a virtual get-together where you can visit with your friends & family. Facilitator Kim Greene will review the basic principles of tai chi and provide a demonstration of its fundamental forms.

The mission of Mountain Meals on Wheels is to provide healthy and nutritious meals to adults of any age who are homebound and unable to prepare their own meals due to health issues. Meals are prepared in a commercial kitchen located at the Summit County Community & Senior Center. Meats are delivered in insulated bags to ensure a safe temperature is maintained. This program is heavily reliant on volunteer drivers, who deliver meals Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays around noon. Drivers are required to have their own vehicle, and be able to pass a criminal background check. Originally affiliated with the Over the Hill Gang International (which today exists in Copper), the Loosey Goosey Group (LGG) has been loosely organizing the 50-plus population committed to celebrating and sharing the joys of living and playing during the snow season in Summit County for more than 30 years. Please note, additional costs may apply for Après ski activities.
Starting the first Thursday in December, the group holds weekly Après ski parties at the Summit County Community and Senior Center, culminating in the Arapahoe Basin Beach Party the first Monday in April. Attendees and group members are asked to bring a dish to share.
The annual Arapahoe Basin Beach Party will be on Monday, April 6, starting at 11:30 a.m. with the option to ski before and/or after. If you wish to attend, please bring a side dish, salad or dessert item to share; the main course of barbecue will be catered by A-Basin. Water, wine and beer will be provided. Weather permitting, the party will be held outside on “The Beach” so please ensure all food items, dishes, serving utensils, chairs and personal belongings are heavy enough to avoid blowing away.
In the case of bad weather, we will host the party inside the A-frame on the 2nd floor; however, due to Colorado liquor laws, the Loosey Goosey Group will not be able to provide wine and beer inside the A-frame. If desired, group members can purchase drinks at the 6th Alley Bar.
Our annual Awards Party will be held on [TBD] and winners of the Most Improved Skier/Boarder and the Nancy Macey Spirit award winners will be posted on our group blog and Facebook page.
Newsletter updates resume October with information about the upcoming ski season.
